MAKEOVER 225 - I volunteered my services for Forum Salon owner, Rene Uze, who created MAKEOVER 225, A Cox Television program, to give back to Baton Rouge. Rene lost everything to Katrina and to “repay” the Baton Rouge community which helped him reestablish his devastated business, he decided to give back by picking one deserving person at a time to honor. Christine, a stage 4 cancer survivor, was the first recipient. I donated “The Works,” which was all three procedures, and in her words and the words of her friends, “It was a most wonderful and happy day” for her, restoring her beauty back from chemo. In addition to my contribution, Rene organized Christine to receive a “Queen for a Day” like event, with new clothes, jewelry, and horseback riding lessons, wigs, limo, dinner at Juban's, plus much more. What a guy!!!
BRAVEHEART CHARITY - Helping children that have to be rescued from dangerous home situations.
ST. JUDE - Fundraiser tennis events for children with cancer.
TRIANON - A group of women whose members are dedicated to the welfare of people with developmental disabilities.
MAKE A WISH - An organization that makes terminal children’s dreams come true.
CANCER SURVIVORS - Guest speaker for the monthly meeting and did courtesy makeovers.
THE WOMAN’S COMMUNITY REHABILITATION CENTER - Serves women with severe and persistent mental illness who are most often homeless by providing a safe and secure home-like setting where they participate in mental health care through a structured program that focuses on education, therapy, and vocational development.
